The University of Calgary will host a new federally funded quantum defence innovation hub to develop advanced technologies for the Canadian Armed Forces.

Defence Minister Anita Anand supported the announcement on Friday and said the national defence capabilities must be strengthened. The federal government has committed $20.3 million [2] to establish and secure the hub on the University of Calgary campus in Alberta.
The investment will be deployed over the coming years to foster innovation in quantum computing and sensing. These technologies are expected to provide the military with enhanced capabilities in areas such as secure communications, and precision detection.
